Appeal for witnesses in Sheerness collision

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a collision involving two vehicles and a man in the Sheerness area.

Kent Police was called at 10.25pm on Wednesday 20 April to a report of a collision on Lower Road at the junction with Eastchurch Road, Sheerness.

A 52-year-old man was reportedly knocked to the ground by one vehicle and hit by a second vehicle while he was still on the ground. It is believed both vehicles failed to stop following the incident.

South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene and treated the man for serious injuries to his legs before taking him to hospital.

The man broke both of his legs and required immediate surgery. He is currently recovering from his injuries in hospital.

PC Matthew Craig, the investigating officer, said: ‘I would like to speak to anyone who either saw the collision, or who perhaps later saw a damaged vehicle in the area.

‘If you believe you have information relating to this incident and haven’t yet been in touch please call Kent Police immediately.’

Anyone with information is asked to call 01795 419119 and to quote 20-1459.
