The Swale Business Awards Enter The Eleventh Year Of Celebrating The Best In The Borough

On 7th March 2017, the Swale Business Awards will begin accepting applications for entries into the eleventh annual awards.

After the success of last year’s Swale Business Awards, which saw the highest amount of entries the awards have had in their history, the organisers are keen to make the 2017 awards even more successful and are encouraging businesses of all shapes and sizes to enter.

“Last year’s awards were a testament to the outstanding variety of talented businesses operating in Swale,” Liz Jordan, Chair of the Awards and partner at UHY Hacker Young comments. “We had diverse businesses of all sizes entering, from sole traders to internationally recognised brands and companies employing over 700 staff. I’ve been lucky enough to be involved with the awards since their inception eleven years ago and it has been wonderful to see how much the awards have developed over that time. The awards continue to grow every year, which means local businesses recognise the value in winning an award.”

This year, Swale Means Business are sponsoring the Swale Business Awards for the first time, acting as joint principal sponsor with Handelsbanken who are sponsoring the awards for the third year running. They are joined by returning sponsors Enterprise Centres, George Webb Finn, Kent Messenger, Kent Science Park, Macknade Fine Foods, Peel Ports – Medway, Shepherd Neame, Swale Borough Council, The Barnyard, The University of Greenwich and Thomson Snell & Passmore as well as first-time sponsors Checkmate and CS One Design.

After being named as the 2016 Swale Business of the Year, Cook Trading have decided to get involved with the awards once again, this time as sponsors. Dale Penfold, Chef Director at Cook discussed this decision: “The Swale Business Awards are the perfect platform for local businesses, whether large or small, to showcase themselves to the wider community. Cook is proud to be one of the sponsors this year, as we promote the idea that local is best. We should all embrace the fact that Swale has some of the most diverse and ground-breaking companies and I am genuinely excited to see who might be in the running for this year’s awards.”

As part of the launch on 7th March, the Swale Business Awards team are hosting an event from 5pm to 7pm at Guildhall, Queenborough. This event will give attendees the chance to network with other local Swale businesses, as well as to meet with judges and previous winners and find out how to make their application stand out. If you would like to attend this free event, please email awards@swalebusinessawards.co.uk.

Those wishing to enter the awards can do so via the Swale Business Awards website (www.swalebusinessawards.co.uk) or via post from 7th March 2017. The awards are open for entries until 30th June 2017.
