Average Speed Cameras on the Sheppey Crossing

Work started this morning on installing average speed cameras’s on the A249 Sheppey Crossing.

Highways England have said there will be  lane closures and some disruption between 9am and 4pm and the work will be completed by 4pm Monday 20th March.  There will be lane closures both ways on the A249 Sheppey Crossing between Grovehurst near Iwade and Cowstead Corner roundabout at Minster.

The cameras are designed to ensure drivers stick to the 70mph speed limit, future work on the crossing is expected to install variable message signs, a weather station to monitor wind and fog and CCTV.

Drivers are advised to keep to the speed limit and to be alert to works vehicles and road workers.
