Advanced warning of a loud whistle on Friday 1st July at 07:30 hours
As part of the commemoration of the start of the Battle of the Somme in 1916, steam locomotive ‘Leader’ will run from Kemsley Down to Sittingbourne Viaduct station for 7am ahead of the whistle at 7.30am – this will be heard over most of Sittingbourne and tie-in with a service at the War Memorial in Central Avenue.
