Councillors Approve Swale Council’s Approach to Stimulating the Borough

Written by on 11 November 2020

Councillors have approved a three-year plan that will stimulate the borough’s economy by securing investment and infrastructure, supporting local business and improving skills.

The plan, laid out by Swale Borough Council, aims to strengthen the economy, deliver improved quality and choice in local employment opportunities and enhance the quality of life for residents by raising Swale’s profile.

Cllr Monique Bonney, cabinet member for economy and property at the council, said:

“We discussed the merits of the plan at the latest cabinet meeting after an eight-week public consultation.

“The plan to reinvigorate the borough’s economy after such a hard year for everyone is challenging but also exciting.

“We already wanted to do more to help grow the local economy before coronavirus, and now it’s even more important that we do what we can to help secure local jobs and support local firms.

“We will now work on simplifying our Swale means business website to make it easier for businesses to find the support they need.

“We’ll also be talking to local businesses to take part in case studies and will engage in programs that help people who’ve been made redundant get back into the workforce.”
