Dartford Crossing “Worst Stretch of Motorway”

The Dartford Crossing, which links Kent and Essex, has been described as the “worst stretch of motorway” by an MP.

Gareth Johnson, MP for Dartford, said a free-flow system, which replaced toll booths on the Kent side, had led to traffic jams, payment issues and slow journeys.

He has now set up an urgent meeting to discuss the issues.

Government, council and police officers will hold talks on Thursday, the Conservative MP for Dartford said.

Dartford council leader Jeremy Kite has welcomed the move.

The new payment system, which saw the removal of the toll-booths, came into operation last November.
