Seldom Seen – Exhibition by Alison Blackburn

July 1 @ 10:00 am - July 29 @ 3:00 pm

Seldom Seen – Exhibition by Alison Blackburn
At Ideas Test we’re very interested in unearthing the processes behind creativity, how artists use their skills, what ideas and inspiration they draw on, how they decide what works and what doesn’t.

In this solo exhibition, starting on Saturday 1 July,  Alison Blackburn reveals the intricate workings behind her body of work, ’28days’, which she is preparing for ‘SICK! Living with invisible illness’ a group exhibition showing in Medway this August.

’28days’ explores the symptoms and problems of having Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), which causes difficulties including erratic fertility & infertility.

Here, through a collection of notebooks, sketches, drawings, inspirations and scale models, she shares a selection of the ideas she’s bounced around, the images that came to her in the dead of night and the abandoned objects which have brought her work to life.

Alison will also be at No.34 on Saturday 8 July running a drop-in activity, based on the samples she created for her exhibition. Come along to create your own sculptural textile object by layering fabric & paper stitched with big hand stitches and machine – all materials provided.

Seldom Seen: Exhibition by Alison Blackburn runs from Saturday 1st July until Saturday 29th July.
Entry to the exhibition is free.

Exhibition opening times:
Tuesday-Friday: 11am-4pm.
Saturdays: 10am-3pm.
