Express your interest to run the new catering kiosk at Faversham Rec

Written by on 14 February 2020

Swale Borough Council is calling for expressions of interest from local not-for-profits and commercial organisations who are interested in running the new catering kiosk at Faversham Rec.

The kiosk is in front of the Grade II listed lodge which is home to Faversham Rugby Club and forms part of the £1.9 million investment to refurbish the lodge, pavilion and grounds, and improve amenities for visitors.

The council is looking for someone to occupy and manage the new kiosk, public toilet and seating area with tables and chairs on the terrace when it opens this spring.

Cllr Hannah Perkin, deputy cabinet member for health and wellbeing at the council, said:

“We want the kiosk to be a focal point of the community and attract visitors to the park all year round by offering quality refreshments and innovative ideas, events and activities.

“It’s important that the kiosk supports our vision to support the environment, and we encourage plastic free initiatives, minimal waste and free water refills.”

Cllr Eddie Thomas, chairman of the Faversham Rec project board, said:

“People have a month to express their interest in the kiosk, and we encourage those with innovative ideas that will help us bring life to the Rec.

“We want to see proposed opening times, refreshments on offer, environmental initiatives and events that could be on offer to the public.

“The kiosk overlooks the new events and refurbished play areas and is in the perfect position to become the hub and heartbeat of the new Rec.”

The project is funded by Swale Borough Council, Heritage Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund.

Expression of Interests are open now until midday on Friday 6 March.
