Happy Christmas from Dementia Inspired
Written by karen on December 21, 2016
Wow, another incredible year at Dementia Inspired as we continue to promote dementia awareness through training, talks and events across Kent. May we take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued love and support for what we do – without you we would have never gotten this far. There are so many exciting events planned for 2017 and beyond and we hope you continue this journey with us. We wish you all a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
In October, Dementia Inspired was overwhelmed with being nominated for two awards at the Dementia Friendly Kent Awards 2016, which took place at the Oasis Academy, Sheppey. We were up for ‘Dementia Friendly Business’ and ‘Outstanding Contribution’ of which the latter was awarded to Paul Murray of the Oasis Academy. A huge congratulations Paul, very well deserved. We also had the pleasure of being photographed with Angela Rippon, this year’s special guest with fellow nominees (see below, photo credit; Andrew Wigmore). Since Dementia Inspired entered its third year we thought it best to reflect on how far we have come so far. We are pleased to announce that we have delivered over 200 training courses now across the UK to almost 2000 individuals from all walks of life, from carers and artists, to managers and retailers to CEO’s and families. Next year will see the official launch of our ‘Care Inspired Training Courses’ that will explore Mental Health, Autism and Supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities. A special thank you to my dear friend Wayne, who since the summer has co-hosted several dementia awareness courses with me, teaching people about his experiences of being affected by mixed dementia. You can continue to read all about Wayne’s adventures through ‘DementiaLand’ by copy and pasting the link below.
