Planned roadworks in Kent: weekly summary for Monday 2 January to Sunday 8 January 2017.

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 2 January but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junctions 5 to 6, Sittingbourne, Kent: carriageway strengthening
Work to improve safety by strengthening the carriageway continue this week. There will be a lane 2 closure in both directions, with a hard shoulder running.  There will also be a 50mph speed limit in place throughout the period of works and until the completion at the end of March 2017.
M20 junction 4, Maidstone, Kent: junction improvement
Work by Kent County Council to improve journeys by adding an additional lane to the roundabout continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways underneath the roundabout for the duration of scheme. A lane closure and 30mph speed limit will be in place on the southbound section of the roundabout. Lane 1 of the westbound entry slip will be closed.

There will be full carriageway closures in both directions at the junction on Tuesday 3 January for 3 nights, between 9pm and 6am.  Traffic will be diverted by utilising the exit and entry slip roads.
