incidents from HM Coastguard Sheppey this week

Written by on 14 August 2017

Tuesday 8th August at 6.45pm – Sheppey Coastguard were tasked to Minster Leas following a report of two vessel in difficulty off the Leas. On arrival it was determined that the two vessels had deliberately grounded. Their intention was to re-float on the next high tide. No persons were in danger. Coastguard Rescue Officer Ian Goodwin commented ‘if a person decides to deliberately ground their vessel it would be useful if the person could contact HM Coastguard to inform us that this is their intention. This avoids any further response from us. On this occasion no one was in danger and it was a false alarm with good intent’.
