Large grass fire at Queenborough  02-03-2017

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a large grass fire on marshland near Manor Road, Queenborough. Firefighters used beaters and portable firefighting equipment to tackle the flames. Around four hectares of grassland – an area the equivalent of nearly six football pitches – was destroyed in the blaze, which happened around 200 metres from where Manor Road joins Rushenden Road. Once the fire was out crews checked for and extinguished hotspots. The cause of the fire is not yet known and there are no reported injuries.
