A2500 Lower Road Update:
A Message from KCC Highways regarding the temporary traffic signals:
“Today onsite we encountered a problem whilst excavating for the new kerb line along Lower Road, east of Barton Hill Drive. Within the existing concrete bed and backing to the kerbs BT fibre optic cables in ducts were uncovered which, as you are no doubt aware, are fragile if disturbed.
The temporary two way traffic signals in place were due to be removed at 15:30 hours today but unfortunately due to the works required to repair the BT ducts and the potential for vehicles to run off the carriageway into an open trench it will be necessary to leave the signals in place overnight.
The intention is to carry out the following to assist with traffic flow:
Today (Thurs 25th Oct) – From 15:30 through to 18:30 hours continue the manual control of the signals
Today (Thurs 25th Oct) – From 18:30 hours switch signals to vehicle actuated, shorten up length and leave in place overnight
Tomorrow (Fri 26th Oct) – From 06:30 manual control of signals through to 15:30 hours and then remove signals at 15:30
