Mayor of Swale’s Engagements – Week Beginning 2nd December 2019

Written by on 27 November 2019

The Mayor of Swale, Councillor Ken Ingleton, will attend or be represented by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Roger Clark, at the following:

Tuesday 3rd December: 5.45pm for 6pm     Wisdom Hospice Lights for Love Appeal Ceremony

The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice have invited the Mayor and Mayoress to attend the annual Lights for Love Ceremony at Highsted Grammar School, Highsted Road, Sittingbourne.  During the ceremony the Mayor will assist with the switching on of the lights for the Lights for Love Christmas Tree.   Every year, just before Christmas, the Lights for Love Appeal provides an opportunity to come together and remember loved ones.  It’s a chance to reflect and celebrate time spent together, leave a dedication to a loved one and make a donation to support the hospice.  The events focus on remembrance, with readings, hymns, carols and refreshments afterwards. This tree, and those located at Minster Abbey on the Isle of Sheppey and at Rochester Cathedral, will be illuminated by hundreds of tiny white lights with each light symbolising love for someone special.  Those attending a ceremony will also have the chance to hang a silver star on the Christmas tree and to view their dedication recorded in the Book of Remembrance.  Money raised will go to the Friends of the Wisdom Hospice, the charity that supports the work of the Wisdom Hospice in Rochester, the only adult hospice serving the Swale and Medway area.
