The Mayor of Swale, Councillor Ken Ingleton, will attend or be represented by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Roger Clark, at the following:

Monday September 30

5.30pm for 6.30pm      Kent Kings Speedway Play-off Meeting

The Kent Kings Speedway Team are in the play-offs for League title.  If they win over two legs they will reach the Final which will take place on 7 October 2019.  The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the play-off meeting at Central Park Stadium, Church Road, Sittingbourne.

Tuesday October 1

2pm to 3.30pm     East Kent Federation of WI’s (Swale Area) Centenary

The Swale Area branch of the East Kent Federation of WI’s (Swale Area) will celebrate their centenary by holding an Afternoon Tea at Sittingbourne Baptist Church Hall, High Street, Sittingbourne.  Around eighteen WI’s will be represented at the afternoon tea, to celebrate 100 Years of the WI being in East Kent.   The Mayor and Mayoress will attend to have tea with WI members and the Mayor will give a short speech.

Thursday October 3

1.50pm for 2pm       Dementia Café

The Mayor and Mayoress will attend a Dementia Café at the Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey’s West Campus in Sheerness.  Regular ‘Dementia Café’ events are organised for residents of Blackburn Lodge and other local residential homes, to visit the Academy and enjoy afternoon tea and entertainment from the students’ performances.

Friday October 4

10.10am for 10.30am for 11am to 12 noon     The Annual Justice Service for Kent

At the invitation of The High Sheriff of Kent, Mr Paul Barrett MBE, the Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Annual Justice Service for Kent in Canterbury Cathedral.

Saturday October 5

1.30pm for 2pm to 5pm    50th Anniversary of Handover of Bowater Paper Railway to SKLR

The Mayor and Mayoress will travel on a special “Mayoral Train” from Sittingbourne Viaduct Station to Kemsley Down Station, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the handover of the Bowater Paper Railway to the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway (SKLR).   Guests will enjoy tours of the engine shed and museum and afternoon tea in the café.  The Mayor will give a short speech about the importance of the SKLR to local heritage.  The civic couple will travel on the return train at 4.30pm to arrive back at Sittingbourne Viaduct Station.

Sunday October 6

12.50 for 1pm     Oasis Academy Community Café Sunday Lunch

The Deputy Mayor will attend an Oasis Academy Community Café Sunday Lunch at Rumour Café, 109 High Street, Sheerness – this event is part of the nationwide Silver Sunday campaign.
