Cash Machine Ram-raid – Morrisons, Sheppey.
Police continue to look for witnesses this morning, 24 hours after thieves targeted the Morrisons supermarket at Neats Court in Queenborough, and stole a cash machine from the outside of the building using a digger, believed to be from a neighbouring construction site.
Officers were called to the Supermarket in Thompsett Way, Queenborough at around 1:38am on Saturday (16th Sept) morning to reports of a digger had been used to try and remove a cash machine from a wall.
A Ford Flatbed was also spotted at the scene.
An Audi A4 was seen to leave the scene and following a pursuit it was involved in a collision with a roundabout on the M2 near to Junction 3.
Three men made off from the vehicle and one person, a 38-year-old man from Essex, has been arrested and is currently in custody.
Detective inspector James Derham, from Kent Police’s serious and organised crime unit, said: “The industrial machinery used to prise the cash point from the wall was left at the scene and we have officers working to establish if anything was taken.
“Although this offence happened in the early hours, we are appealing for anyone with information who may not have yet come forward.
“We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident or anyone who saw the vehicle driving at speed along the A249 towards the M2.”
