Planned Roadworks In Kent And Sussex 14/03 – 20/03

Weekly summary Monday 14 March – Sunday 20 March 2016.

Highways England have again forwarded information regarding planned roadworks in the Kent and Sussex regions. As always, these plans could be subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. Highways england logo

Locals commuting into and around these areas are advised to have a read through the following information and allow plenty of time for any possible disruption to their usual commute.

Highways England would like to point out that they have a variety of planning tools available to motorists in order to plan ahead for journeys. Further information can be found via the links at the end of this information.

 

 

M2 Stockbury Viaduct, junction 5, Sittingbourne, Kent: manhole cover repair

Work to improve journeys will start this week. The London-bound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Thursday 17 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the coastbound M2 to junction 6 and return on the London-bound carriageway.

M20 junctions 5 to 7, Maidstone, Kent: sign replacement

Work to improve journeys on the M20 will start this week. Closures will be in place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, with clearly signed diversions in place.

The coastbound distributor road will be closed between junctions 6 and 7 overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Monday 14 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8. In addition, lane closures will be in place on the coastbound carriageway between junction 6 and 7 during the same time.

Lane closures will be in place on the London-bound carriageway between junctions 7 and 6 with traffic using lane 1 overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Tuesday 15 March.

The London-bound distributor road will be closed between junctions 7 and 5 overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Wednesday 16 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the main carriageway. In addition lane closures will be in place on the London-bound carriageway during the same time.

The London-bound carriageway will be closed between junctions 6 and 5 overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Thursday 17 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the coastbound carriageway to junction 7

The London-bound distributor road will be closed between junctions 6 and 5 overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Friday 18 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6.

The coastbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 6 and 7 overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Saturday 19 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the distributor road.

The coastbound exit slip road at junction 7 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Sunday 20 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6. In addition, there will be a lane closure in place on the coastbound carriageway.  

M23 junction 9 Gatwick: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week.  The northbound spur road from the South Terminal and entry slip road to the M23 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4am, from Monday 14 March for 6 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10 and return.

M23 junction 10a, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week. There will be southbound lane closures between junctions 10a and 11 overnight, between 10 pm and 4 am, from Monday 14 March for 5 days. There will also be 2 lanes closed northbound to facilitate temporary lighting rigging at the same times.  A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2011 and A23 to junction 11 and return.

A2/M25 to Ebbsfleet, Kent: carriageway resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the carriageway will continue this week.

The coastbound carriageway between the B255 exit slip road at Bean and the A2260 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5am, from Monday 14 March for 4 nights and between 10pm and 6am on Friday 18 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B255 exit slip road, A226, A2260 and the B259 entry slip road.

A20 Alkham Valley, Dover, Kent: feeder pillar renewal

Work to improve journeys on the A20 will continue this week. Narrow lanes will be in place in both directions on Alkham Valley Road, between 9.30am and 3.30pm, from Monday 14 March for 5 days.

A20 Dover, Kent: junction improvement work

Work by the Port of Dover to improve journeys on the A20 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place with one lane remaining open in both directions between the Limekiln and York Street roundabouts 24/7 for the duration of the works. In addition, there will be no right turns from the A20 eastbound on to Union Street and from Union Street on to the A20. Clearly signed diversions will be in place.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury continues this week. A 40mph speed limit will remain in place 24/7 between the Vauxhall interchange and the A228.

Two way traffic lights will be in place on the coastbound entry slip road at Vauxhall interchange, between 9.30am and 3.30pm, from Monday 14 March for 5 days. In addition, the coastbound entry slip road at Vauxhall interchange will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A26 and the A228.  

A lane closure will be in place on the London-bound carriageway between the A228 and Longfield Roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Wednesday 16 March.

Two way traffic lights will be in place on Tonbridge Road and Longfield Road overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 3 nights.

A23 Pyecombe to Patcham, East Sussex: carriageway investigation

Work to maintain safety on the A23 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 2 nights.

A27 Falmer Footbridge, East Sussex: bridge maintenance

Work to replace the ramp on the footbridge over the A27 at Falmer continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on the westbound carriageway and the outside lane of the westbound exit slip road will be closed 24/7 until the end of the scheme. Work is due to be complete in May 2016.

A27 Adur Viaduct, West Sussex: resurfacing

Work to improve road safety on the A27 starts this week. The east and westbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 14 March for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Holmbush interchange and Lancing roundabout.

A27 Southwick Tunnel, West Sussex: routine maintenance

The carriageway will be closed in both directions overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Friday 18 March for 2 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A270 and the A293.

A27 Upper Brighton Road, Sompting, West Sussex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve road safety on the A27 will continue this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5am, from Monday 14 March for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A24, A259 and A2025 through Worthing. Access to Lyons Farm Retail park will be maintained at all times.

A2070 Ashford, Kent: road marking replacement

Work to improve safety on the A2070 between M20 junction 10 and Brenzett roundabout continues this week.

Lane closures and temporary traffic lights will be in place on the M20 junction 10 roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 5am, on Monday 14 March.

The westbound  A2070  will be closed between Orbital Park roundabout and M20 junction 10, overnight, between 8pm and 5am, on Tuesday 15 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A292 and A2042.
