PPE DISTRIBUTION FROM Friday 22nd May 10am AT THE HOLY TRINITY CHURCH HALL, BROADWAY ME12 1AF

Written by on 20 May 2020

Sheerness Town Council are extremely pleased to announce that they will be giving out free PPE to any front-line members of the community from 10am on Friday 22nd May.

Home carers, retail workers, agency staff, taxi drivers and any other public facing individuals are invited to visit The Holy Trinity Church Hall in the Broadway to collect facemasks, gloves, and hand sanitiser any time between 10am and 8pm. Just bring along either something to show where you’re employed, or if you are caring for someone in the area, or are at high risk yourself, something to prove that you are a resident of Sheerness.

The council has 25,000 paper face masks, 600 bottles of hand sanitiser and over 6,000 pairs of disposable gloves to give away, with 25,000 plastic aprons arriving on Friday.

The Holy Trinity Church distribution centre will stay open on Friday and Saturday, again between 10am and 8pm, so that every frontline member of the community should have a chance to be able to come and collect their equipment. Some equipment has already been put aside to help the local foodbanks and other charities in the area, and the remainder will be distributed to the public on a first come, first served basis.

Sheerness Town Council Chairman, Councillor Matt Brown is thrilled that the equipment has now been delivered:

“We were warned that it may take a few weeks for the supplies to get to us, but all the Councillors are just so happy that it has all finally arrived and now we can get on with the business of getting it out there. There are so many residents of Sheerness who have been struggling to get sufficient PPE, if any at all, so hopefully this will help local people as we all struggle with the Covid
19 pandemic.”
