Royal Re-Opening for Historic Hotel

Written by on 30 September 2015

A big part of Isle of Sheppey history is getting a face-lift.

The Royal Hotel, Sheerness celebrates it’s grand re-opening on Wednesday 30th September from 7.30pm. There will be a free buffet and also discounted drinks for those attending.

The new landlord says the business almost had to close for good.

The Royal Hotel, which is on the corner of Royal Road and Broadway, Sheerness, is under new management and has been undergoing a refurbishment.

The building was constructed in 1825 by famous Sheppey builder Sir Edward Banks, who also worked on Sheerness Dockyard and Southwark and Waterloo Bridges.

It was recently taken over by new tenant Kevin Burgess on behalf of owner Shepherd Neame.
