Safety Improvements on Sheppey Crossing
Written by karen on 9 September 2015
A 50mph speed limit has been introduced on the A249 Sheppey Crossing in Kent.
It follows a serious crash last July in which a mother and her eight year-old son were killed.
95.6 BRFM started the Bridge Safety Campaign earlier this year, lobbying for safety improvements on the crossing.
The coroner investigating asked Highways England to consider urgent safety measures on the bridge, which is the main link between the M2 at Stockbury and Sheerness.
In September 2013, sixty people were injured after more than 120 cars crashed. More than thirty thousand drivers use the crossing every day.
