Intrepid ‘Eleanor’ to the rescue of stricken ‘Eskimo’.
The volunteer crew of the Sheerness inshore lifeboat ‘Eleanor’ dashed to the assistance of a 25ft motor boat ‘Eskimo’ on Monday 7th March at 10:24pm. The stricken vessel, with two male persons on board, had suffered a fuel pump failure off Folly Point in the tidal River Medway.
‘Eskimo’s’ original destination had been Stoke Creek, however the intrepid International Lifeboat Crew of ‘Eleanor’ quickly located them lying at anchor in the busy Medway Estuary and towed them to the safety of Gillingham Marina Pontoon.
The ‘Eleanor’ was back on station at 12:40 am, we wish the crew of ‘Eskimo’ a safe journey to Stoke Creek following their repairs.
