Swale community groups receive police donations

A number of community groups in Swale will each benefit from a £500 donation from the Kent Police property fund.
The fund is raised from the sale at auction of unclaimed items seized during operations, and twice a year the money is distributed to organisations that provide a service to people throughout the county.
A presentation was held at Sittingbourne police station on Thursday 16 February 2017 when representatives from the following groups accepted their donations:
- 2nd Sheppey Scouts;
- Sittingbourne Striders Running and Triathlon Club;
- Age UK Sheppey;
- Phoenix House youth club, Sittingbourne;
- Sheerness County Youth Centre;
- Upchurch Colts FC.
Swale district commander Chief Inspector Paul Anderson said: ‘These organisations were nominated by officers, police staff and members of the public, and I am sure the money they have received will be put to good use.
‘It’s always great to meet people who work so hard to improve the lives of others and it was a pleasure to be able to contribute to the wide range of initiatives they are currently pursuing.’
