Thieves target signalling cables overnight

There was major train disruption on Sheppey after thieves stole signalling cables overnight.

No trains were running between Queenborough and Sheerness following the theft.

A replacement bus service was put in place until the service returned to normal at around 2pm.

The theft was discovered after Sheerness-on-Sea’s signaller encountered a loss of power to the signalling system overnight.

Response staff then found cables had been stolen along the line. This is the second time a theft has taken place on the Sheerness line, a previous attack took place in May which stop trains coming to Sheerness for some time.
