This one man play, written by and starring Paul Harris, tells of the life both on and off stage of comedian Frankie Howerd, a troubled but amazingly talented man who wowed audiences for almost fifty years. In the 1950’s he was the biggest comedy star in the country only to lose everything including his health before coming back to prominence and finding a new young audience in the 1980’s.
‘TITTER YE NOT’ is a lovingly crafted piece that will amuse and amaze all fans of Frankie Howerd’s life and career.

 

An Evening with Fiddle & Faff

Fiddle and Faff return to the theatre for another fabulous evening.

Fiddle & Faff is a duo of friends, Christine Adams and Lissie Bayford. Their finely crafted music is mostly drawn from the folk tradition, peppered with other influences that take their fancy and encompasses songs and tunes from the lyrical and lovely to the toe-tapping and quirky.  Christine plays fiddle, accordion & nyckelharpa and sings harmony while Lissie sings and  plays double bass and mando-bass,  so that together they create performances that are entertaining and engaging.

From Tipperary to Flanders Fields

Created by Kent based professional company Katapult in the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, and performed continuously since, this show takes the audience on a journey through the experience of the conflict through songs, poetry, readings and drama.  It tells the stories of some of the women who became nurses, bus drivers, factory workers or entertainers, as well as reflecting on the experience for combatants and civilians.

In a festive mood, the ladies of the Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society portray their stage version of A Christmas Carol. They enthusiastically portray a dizzy array of characters from the Dickensian favourite (and a few which aren’t), engineer some novel audience participation while bravely contending with an intrusive PA system and rap their vocal cords and feet around two original, show stopping songs.

Odile is a fresh look at the Swan Lake story told in Niewelt’s inimitable style of dance narrative through neo classical ballet.

The tale is told through the eyes of the orphaned Odile who has been cruelly treated by her evil uncle Rothbart and seeks to escape from his influence within her mind through her subconscious alter ego Odette.

Niewelt’s new two act ballet uses some of Tchaikowsky’s well known music from Swan Lake as well as newly created scores promising to enthral all audiences with his talent for storytelling without words.
