incidents from HM Coastguard Sheppey this week

Monday 28/08/2017 10:36 – Sheppey Coastguard Rescue Teams were tasked to a light aircraft that had crash landed at Seasalter. On arrival Kent Fire and Rescue, Kent Ambulance and Kent Police were also on scene. The six occupants of the Piper light aircraft were in the care of the ambulance team having suffered only minor injuries. The aircraft had lost power whilst on a flight from north Kent to France and the pilot managed to clear the seawall and land the aircraft in a recently harvested corn field at Cleve Marsh. The team sent photos of the crash site to the Aeronautical Rescue Centre in Fareham, Hampshire then stood down. The police and fire service remained on scene until the Civil Aviation Authority Crash Investigation team could attend the site.
