A249 Update

A249 To Remain Closed
Gordon Henderson MP has learnt that the A249 closure is to continue.
Gordon Henderson today sent an urgent email to Andrew Jones MP Roads Minister.
Dear Andrew
Following the email I sent to you earlier in the week, I am drawing to your attention that the A249 north bound is still closed. Please see below the most recent update, which I feel emphasises the lack of urgency to which I referred in my earlier email.
As you can see a further survey will be undertaken next Tuesday, but I fail to see why that survey cannot be undertaken immediately.
You will see also that no work is proposed over this weekend and that no timeframe for repairs will be decided until after a report on the investigation is received next Friday. That means at least another week of roads chaos in my constituency. Why will the report take that long to deliver?
Finally, local people are asking why Highways England have not put in an alternative traffic management system, such as putting a contraflow on the southbound carriageway or opening a single lane on the northbound carriageway. I have no answer to those questions!
I would be grateful for any help you can give in getting Highways England to give repairing the A249 the priority it deserves.
Best Ever
GORDON HENDERSON MP
Update from Highways England:
A further survey will be carried out next Tuesday, 26 January.
We expect to receive a report next Friday, 29 January in respect of all the investigations that have been carried out to determine what repairs are necessary. We will then set a timeframe which will take into account what work is required and how long the work will take.
No work will be taking place at the weekend. We will review the situation at the end of next week and I’ll provide you with a further update.
The road will remain closed for a foreseeable future until we are satisfied that it can be reopened safely.
