Officers arrest two people following routine patrol in Sheppey

Two people are in police custody after officers stopped them during a routine patrol in Sheppey.


Officers were patrolling when a vehicle came to their attention in Jenkins Hill, Eastchurch on Sunday 28 January 2018 at around 6.30pm.


Having stopped the vehicle officers then conveyed a 22-year-old woman from Sheerness and a 25-year-old man from Streatham to Sheerness Police Station where they were both subsequently searched.


Having been searched officers found what was believed to be a quantity of class a drugs on the woman as well as a large amount of cash and two mobile phones on the man.


The woman was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance and also on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine. The man has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.


Both people remain in custody at this time while enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
