Kent Police has teamed up with the Dogs Trust to offer free micro-chipping for dogs

Written by on 21 February 2016

Kent Police has teamed up with the Dogs Trust to offer free micro-chipping for dogs.

Police community support officers will be on hand between 10am and 2pm at Tesco supermarket, in Bridge Road, Sheerness, on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 February.

They are offering a free micro-chipping service which allows the authorities to trace the rightful owners of animals when they are found; either lost or stolen. As of 6 April the law is changing and owners will be required to have their dogs microchipped.

A similar event held last year resulted in 145 dogs being microchipped.

The event is open for any dog owner to attend, regardless of where they live in the county.
