BRFM Broadcasting News

Written by on 22 June 2019

As our presenters and Facebook posts announced on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th June, BRFM did indeed broadcast at a reduced power on Friday 21st June. This was only temporary whilst we carried out essential equipment maintenance work on site.

We are delighted to tell you that we have completed the planned works and have upgraded our aerial. We are now broadcasting at our full licenced power from the cliffs in Minster, Isle of Sheppey.

In 2016/17 our signal started breaking down and our Aerial that was installed in 2006 finally gave up. Emergency works were carried out and BRFM had been broadcasting on a contingency aerial which we couldn’t place at the top of the Mast. This lead to a reduction in our directional signal.

As always, the BRFM management and presenter team pulled together and donated money towards a platform lift, supplied by P G Platforms in Snodland, to get the aerial back up where it belongs at 25 meters up on our mast.

Last year the new owner of Golden Leas Holiday Parks in Minster, Isle of Sheppey, donated the money for a brand new aerial which was greatly appreciated not only by BRFM but our loyal listeners and supporters.

On Friday 21st June, it all came together and BRFM installed the new Aerial.

The Directors, Management and Presenters of 95.6 BRFM would like to thank everyone for their patience and support whilst these essential works were carried out.

Here’s to a brighter, clearer future supporting the Community of Sheppey and Swale providing an essential hub for Local News, Job Vacancies, Community Events, Charities and organisations.
