Two men arrested for war memorabilia burglary
Officers have arrested and bailed two men on suspicion of burglary on the Isle of Sheppey.
A 25-year-old and a 19-year-old, both from Sheerness, were arrested on Wednesday 15 June in connection with a burglary which was reported to have occurred in the Thorn Hill Road area of Warden between 9pm on Saturday 11 June and 8am on Sunday June 12.
During the burglary Second World War memorabilia was reportedly stolen.
Among the missing items are two Browning machine guns with associated equipment and ammunition, and a military radio (the weapons are all fully deactivated and cannot be reinstated, and none of the ammunition is live).
A baseball glove dating back to the 1940s was also among the memorabilia, which was reportedly stolen from outbuildings.
The arrested men have both been bailed until Thursday 28 July to allow officers to continue their enquiries.
Anyone who may have information about the missing memorabilia is urged to call the appeal line on 01795 419119 quoting reference XY/022515/16.

Why can’t people leave other peoples stuff alone. I love living on the island but there are way too many thieves about.
