Friday 12th October 2018 Our Scouts groups are sleeping rough
On the night of Friday 12 October Kent Scouts will hold the biggest Sponsored Sleep Out Kent has ever seen! We are expecting between 2,500 and 3,500 scouts to take part.
The charity is Porchlight, Kent’s foremost homelessness charity. Homelessness in the UK has soared and the picture here in Kent is no different. Porchlight worked with 834 rough sleepers last year.
The sponsorship raised by the scouts of Kent will have an incredible impact on their doorstep and help the charity to turn the lives of local people around. Spending the night in a cardboard box is a way to put yourself in the shoes of someone who is homeless. It’s guaranteed to be both fun and cold but will also be an eye opening experience. All the Sheppey District Scout Groups will be taking part, with members from all sections spending the night, sleeping in cardboard boxes at the Sheppey Rugby Club …. Wish us luck …. and please sponsor us ….
