BRFM Celebrates 14th Birthday on air

Written by on 29 October 2020

On Friday 30th October, BRFM are proud to celebrate 14 years broadcasting to the Isle of Sheppey and beyond and we want you to join us.  Over the years we have laughed and cried along with you, our listeners, who make us what we are today.  We have sadly lost a couple of presenters to illness and we have seen others move on to Commercial stations and others start up their own Community Stations and you our listeners have been there with us through it all.

BRFM are proud to be part of the original Community Stations still on air in the UK, whilst still supporting and helping new stations set up in their areas.  We are a training platform for future radio presenters as well as helping students in Media courses and offering work experience and Employability skills training to help our community.  It’s taken a while but our Brand new Training facilities and studios are nearly complete and this can only help us to secure future commitments to you, our community.

Being a Not for Profit organisation, BRFM are thankful for all our supporters including our advertisers who, without, we would not be able to continue to broadcast, so a big thank you goes out to you especially.

2020 has been a difficult, if not strange year for everyone worldwide, but it showed how every community came together to help their friends, family, neighbours and our NHS to get through the ongoing pandemic.  BRFM was and is a platform to keep the community informed of advice, help and even to have a laugh to uplift your day.

So, we welcome you to join us on Friday to help celebrate our 14th Birthday where we will be giving away a bottle of Champaign and a set of JBL earphones to a lucky winner.  Just answer this question when the Presenter asks “Who was the first presenter(s) to broadcast on 30th October 2006”?

Not only can you go in the draw to win the Champaign and earphones, each presenter throughout the day will be giving away prizes.

Join John Sissons on the Breakfast Show, between 6am and 9am, where he will be giving away a breakfast for two from the Klondyke Cafe at the Lakes (Halfway).

Pete and Pat on the Mid Morning Show, between 9am and 1pm, will be giving away a tub of sweets to a lucky winner.

Mark Peters on the Afternoon Show will be giving away a tub of sweets

and finally, join Pete and Bobby on Drive, between 4pm and 7pm where not only will they also be giving away a tub of sweets but will be drawing the winner of the Champaign and JBL Earphones.

Good luck throughout the day.

Happy 14th Birthday BRFM

We ( the Taylor family) love listening to Brfm as often as we can, we feel it’s the best local radio station around.
